It has been a rough winter in Santa Barbara. From the Thomas Fire to the mudslides, everything has been turned upside down. We have not had rain since the slide and with warmer than normal temperatures, it certainly doesn’t feel like winter. Although it is only the beginning of February, I was feeling the need for a bit of color and to lighten things up both aesthetically and emotionally.…
Today I’m sharing 3 women whose style inspires and delights the senses. That they are generous and kind with their time is just icing on the cake. These ladies were some of my early contacts on Instagram, and their support and encouragement were everything to a newbie Instagrammer like myself who didn’t even know what a hashtag was! All of these women have websites worth checking out that you can link to through their Instagram accounts. I highly recommend that…
Recently I was asked by a friend to help her furnish a beach/guest house that her college age daughter and a roommate will be living in. Eventually it will transition to a guest house for overflow family and friends. She has done a magnificent job taking an older quirky home and making it into a bright fresh inviting space that any guest would be thrilled to stay at!…
I love sharing inspiring Instagram accounts and honestly, there are so many, I don’t think I will ever be at a loss to find them! The gorgeous feature photo belongs to the talented Paige Thornton (paige_r.thornton) I’m in love with her entire home but especially the kitchen! Paige lives in a stunning Alabama farmhouse that she remodeled and was recently featured in Country Living Magazine. Do yourself a favor and take a gander. I know you will love her and her home…
On Instagram , you’ll notice I rarely post pictures of televisions at The Little Glass House. In fact, I often get asked if we have one. Um, would you believe we have four in a not so big house? And one of them is a 55″ screen…hardly discreet. I’ll let you in on my dirty little secret. I LIKE TV! I really do. And today with cable, NetFlix, and Apple TV, I can watch just about anything anytime. So you bet we own several TV’s…
what’s in and what’s out in 2017 (and should we care?)
January 12, 2017After a 2 week holiday hiatus from my blog, I’m ready to jump back in. Happy New Year to you all! With the New Year comes the inevitable lists of trends for what we should be buying and what we should be ditching. First off, let me start by saying that I only buy things I love…if they happen to be a trend, great, if not, that’s ok too. Secondly, who exactly decides what’s in and what’s out? I recently…
I love the color green. It’s the color of grass, plants, trees, and my bathroom, which is literally swimming in a sea of green. Don’t get me wrong, I love this tiny green mosaic bathroom. It’s just time for a change. I’ve had six years to think about what I would like it to be. After installing new wood floors in our home in 2015, I just couldn’t face another messy renovation. Maybe it’s like childbirth and the pain of the memory will…
In last week’s blog post I finished the tour of the downstairs of our beach bungalow. The upstairs consists of 3 bedrooms and a full bath. Although having just one bathroom isn’t ideal, there are usually only one or two of us there at any given time. And the bathroom had been nicely renovated with a skylight to bring in lots of natural light.…
