Today is a first for me. I’m joining seven talented bloggers who will be sharing ways to bring Spring into your living room. Never mind that it’s only February, a touch of Spring does wonders for the soul.
After a neutral winter palette, I’m itching to bring in color and touches of the outdoors. In fall and winter I use warm throws, rugs, and lots of texture for a warm cozy feel. Yes, even here in Santa Barbara, we get some chilly weather!
One of the easiest ways to herald in Spring, is with color. I swap out my neutral pillows and bring in the blues that play against the seascapes on the gallery wall.
Rugs are rolled up and the addition of an antique coffee table makes the space seem lighter. The table is from Diani and yes, horrors of horrors, I cut off the legs to make it coffee table height.
Plants and flowers are one of the easiest ways to make the winter blahs disappear. I love ferns and air plants for their easy care. But pretty much anything green makes me happy!
On the console, a vintage dough bowl full of pinecones is replaced with aqua fishing floats. Some textural candle holders and a collection of blue and green glass bottles seem to glow when the morning sun filters through the French doors.
I am constantly moving things around. Is there a name for this particular addiction? And I’m not just talking accessories…rugs, furniture, and pretty much anything that isn’t nailed down is fair game! I especially love bringing outdoor items inside. An old galvanized side table that has lived on the patio for years, has a new home in the living room.
By far my favorite “accessory” for bringing Spring into our living room, is the beautiful California light and occasional warm days when the doors are thrown open wide to the fresh air. It doesn’t get much better than that!
For some tips and ideas for refreshing your living room for Spring, please check out these bloggers, some of whom are new to me and some who are old friends. All of them talented and inspiring!
Elizabeth you certainly did not disappoint. Your house is always so welcoming and charming but especially this time of year when you can bring in the colors of the sea and sun. I love the juxtaposition of the rustic wood with the metals and sea glass. Utterly charming. Thank you so much for joining us. Your house is so inspiring. I just noticed the clever way you camouflaged the entry…so clever!
I so appreciate your kind words. It has been such a wonderful experience sharing with others in the design field. Thank you for including me in this group of amazing women!
Wow! Elizabeth, your home is stunning. I absolutely love your bold gallery wall, with so much personality and warmth. Honestly, if i was a visitor i would literally be standing around and gazing at your artful mix of details and color in your room. All the blues and greens are such a restful feeling after the holidays. I’m so happy I got to meet you through this project. I love your style.
Thank you so much Leslie. I’m just now sitting down with a cup of tea to read and enjoy seeing everyone’s spring living rooms. What a talented group! I love our design community! π
Your house is one of my all-time favorites! I lived in Santa Barbara for a few years and love Diani. Too much actually ;)) Do you ever shop at Antik? Another fun little store with cool stuff.
Your pillows are all so pretty and something about blue is so easy to love especially in the spring. I think that the table is incredible too. Oh and I’ve cut so many legs off things I’ve lost count. xxoo Kelley
Thanks so much Kelley. I’m a huge fan of yours! And yes, Diani is a dangerous place π I’ve never been to Antik but I will now. I got the table home and was going to wait for a friend who’s a contractor to cut off the legs. I tend to be a bit impatient and so did it myself…I’m guessing a small pruning saw isn’t the most professional way to get the job done :))
Elizabeth, beautiful post & stunning room!
glad to meet you here under Project Design. now my next step is to subscribe
Debra

Elizabeth,
Your Santa Barbara home with it’s blending of indoor/outdoor living combined with your easy, comfortable furniture is always a favorite. Your gallery wall is something I’ve always admired too! I always think of you and Kelsey bringing home your beach glass from your long walks and opening the wine! Looks dreamy from here!
xo
Aw, Annie…you are always so supportive and kind! Kelsey was just here last weekend, and while we didn’t find any sea glass, we did catch sunrises and sunsets! π
Elizabeth I have scrolled through your post twice today and finally had a moment to sit and take in all the details. It’s just dreamy! Love the gallery wall and your blue and white casual coastal vibe!
Thanks so much Lisa. What a lovely group of women to be included with! Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Elizabeth! I’m so happy to discover your lovely blog – what a wondrous space you’ve styled! Your gallery wall is a stunning sight to behold. From my current perspective (gazing from the winter lit kitchen at bare trees rising from a blanket of white), your nest looks so very comforting and organically beautiful. I haven’t felt inspired enough to start moving things around so I appreciate the nudge to get movin! -michele
Hi Michele! Thank you so much for your lovely words…Way back before IG or my blog, yours was one of the first blogs I read regularly! Sadly, I haven’t been able to keep up with my blog reading but hope to remedy that soon. Thank you for taking the time to comment π
xx Elizabeth
You are familiar with east coast living, so understand how amazed I am that you can just throw open doors or sit outside without being overrun with insects. Or are you, but just keep it secret? π Such a beautiful home,; your photos bring much joy.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Yes, we do get a few bugs and we definitely do in Big Sur during the summer. But Santa Barbara there aren’t many and having the doors open without screens is a small price to pay for a few bugs! However we do get the occasional bird as well π
