Decorating House Tour

Redondo Beach Digs

September 29, 2017

After living in a Santa Monica studio apartment for three years, my daughter Kelsey, was ready to make a change. A move to Redondo Beach and a slightly larger one bedroom was just the ticket!  You can not imagine how much stuff there was in her little studio!

I also had been storing a few things in my garage, awaiting moving day.  Somehow I managed to fit everything into my Prius… 2 rattan chairs, a night table, a rattan bar cabinet, a stool, towels, pillows, baskets, and a 4 foot tall cactus!

Got to love a Prius!

The first day was just a giant mess in the middle of the living room with very little space to work.  The movers didn’t finish until about 4:00.  After emptying a lot of boxes with the help of some of Kelsey’s friends, we decided to grab dinner and start fresh in the morning.

This was actually huge progress from what we started with.

Two more days, runs to Target, Pottery Barn, and Teak Warehouse and a whole lot of elbow grease, and now it looks like a place my daughter can call home.  Of course there are still small projects to do….a floating shelf in the bathroom and the balcony could still use some more touches, but overall we were both pleased with the way it turned out.  Here are some of the pics…

A small but renovated kitchen means that perhaps my girl will be doing some cooking! The rug is from Dash and Albert.

My old Target nightstands came in handy!  The vanity is from Target as well.  Bedding is from RH and the throw is from Pottery Barn.  Pillow by Indiebungalow.

Here is an example of Kelsey’s youthful style.  She was so happy to finally have a place to hang the Volkswagen door!  It’s both a light and a chalkboard from Mate Gallery.

The rattan bar cabinet was a vintage find that I still can’t believe I was able to get in my Prius!  And yes, that is the same elephant table I have in Santa Barbara from Mate Gallery…we couldn’t resist!  The mirror is from Wisteria.  The table and chairs are vintage.

Chair from Anthropologie and table from Target.  The balcony still needs some finishing touches!

There is always room for more art!  Rug is vintage from Mate Gallery.

I’m waiting on a salvaged wood floating shelf, otherwise, this simple bathroom is finished! Rug is from Dash and Albert.  Stool is vintage from Diani Living.

Good night…

Of course there will be more tweaking (always), but it’s a great start.  Welcome home, Kelsey!
