Guest Post: what I love about The Little Glass House

September 16, 2016

This week I (Kelsey, Elizabeth’s daughter) have taken over my mom’s blog post, while she has been crazy busy getting the new East Coast abode together. She’s been kind (and crazy?) enough to trust me and a few girlfriends to take a little weekend getaway to The Little Glass House. Santa Barbara is the perfect place to go and recharge. It’s a short drive from Los Angeles (about an hour and a half) but feels like planets away. An hour and a half in LA gets you…

favorite shop: green peak elements

September 8, 2016

Since posting photos of my parents Vermont farmhouse, I’ve fielded questions about the vintage lighting in their kitchen and entry hall.  In the center of Manchester, Vermont is a gem of a shop chock full of everything from lights that owner Brad Andres customizes for his clientele, to all manner of quirky interesting finds.  Green Peak Elements is also a veritable gold mine for those seeking antiques and collectibles!…

vermont farmhouse part two

September 2, 2016

This week, I thought I’d share a few more photos of the progress at my parent’s Vermont farmhouse.  The two of them have been very busy since my visit in June. They are a dynamic duo, my dad the carpenter, and my mom with the creative flair. Here are a few of the changes……

Our new east coast beach bungalow

August 26, 2016

I didn’t dare share this until we closed on the house. I was sure that I would jinx the whole thing. On my last visit to Connecticut in June, it came to our attention that a few homes had become available in a small coastal area near our rented townhouse. This is a community that rarely sees houses come on the market and so we decided to check a few of them out.…

bittersweet Big Sur visit

August 19, 2016

I just arrived home from a few days with a dear friend in Big Sur.  Frankly, I wasn’t sure we were even going to be able to go as a huge fire was roaring through parts of the region. The fire started on July 22 by an illegal campfire in one of the state parks. As of this writing, it has consumed over 79,000 acres and is 60% contained.  It will be weeks before it is completely under control.  It…

collecting dogs…dog door stops!

August 12, 2016

I’m not sure I even remember how it all started.  When we were furnishing our first house, we often went to antique shows and flea markets.  My husband, being a dog lover, discovered a cast iron dog door stop at one of these shows many years ago. It was cute…a Boston terrier, which was one of the more common door stops and therefore not too expensive.  We didn’t know much about them or that people actually collect vintage door stops…

Master Bedroom in The Little Glass House

I almost didn’t post this piece today.  It seems that every time I turn on the news, another horrific attack has happened and everything else seems trivial in comparison.  But I think in my own way, by creating beautiful, comfortable places to call home, it makes me feel safer.  Our homes are our sanctuaries away from all the atrocities happening in the world.  And isn’t it nice to have an oasis if even for a little while?  So here is…

The easiest artichoke dip recipe…ever

Creamy Artichoke Dip

If you’ve been following me here or on Instagram , you may have figured out that I like food…a lot.  I also love easy recipes and this one couldn’t be much simpler.  It never fails to impress when I serve it at parties or bring it to someone’s potluck spread.  The only problem is that when asked for the recipe, it’s almost embarrassing to admit how little time or ingredients go into creating something so tasty!…

Decorating The Little Glass House

organic. natural. modern.

The Little Glass House, Santa Barbara

I was thrilled to be asked by the lovely ladies at Holl and Lane magazine to write an Interiors post for their online blog. Holl and Lane’s motto is:  We are more than a magazine; we are a community of women that share our hearts with boldness.  We believe in telling stories boldly and vulnerably, to cultivate honest community and authentically inspire home and add flavor to everyday life.  They were looking for me to fulfill the authentically inspire home niche!…
