So one day I get an e-mail from the homes editor at Coastal Living magazine wondering if I would be interested in being in one of their issues. At first I thought it must be a mistake and how did they even find me? Thank you Instagram! A few months after that first e-mail, on three rare sunny days (it had been a stormy February), Coastal Living came to call at The Little Glass House.…
Months ago, I had planned a trip to Big Sur when my parents would be visiting me in Santa Barbara. Our daughter and a friend were coming too. Nature had other ideas. With one of the wettest winters on record (over 80″ of rain) and five years of drought, the damage was severe. Mudslides, rockslides, and the loss of Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge cut a major part of the beautiful Highway 1 and Big Sur off from the rest of the…
Recently I was asked by a friend to help her furnish a beach/guest house that her college age daughter and a roommate will be living in. Eventually it will transition to a guest house for overflow family and friends. She has done a magnificent job taking an older quirky home and making it into a bright fresh inviting space that any guest would be thrilled to stay at!…
I love sharing inspiring Instagram accounts and honestly, there are so many, I don’t think I will ever be at a loss to find them! The gorgeous feature photo belongs to the talented Paige Thornton (paige_r.thornton) I’m in love with her entire home but especially the kitchen! Paige lives in a stunning Alabama farmhouse that she remodeled and was recently featured in Country Living Magazine. Do yourself a favor and take a gander. I know you will love her and her home…

My poor husband had to live through a peach sofa in our first apartment and pink and white balloon shades in the master bedroom in our Connecticut house. As if those weren’t bad enough, I purchased pink and green Laura Ashley rugs to put next to our bed. I took cute and cottagey to a whole new level. It’s a wonder we are still married.…
On Instagram , you’ll notice I rarely post pictures of televisions at The Little Glass House. In fact, I often get asked if we have one. Um, would you believe we have four in a not so big house? And one of them is a 55″ screen…hardly discreet. I’ll let you in on my dirty little secret. I LIKE TV! I really do. And today with cable, NetFlix, and Apple TV, I can watch just about anything anytime. So you bet we own several TV’s…
Recently, Coastal Living did a photo shoot of our home. The stylist wanted to use lemons for one particular shot…a whole lot of lemons. Luckily, my little Meyer lemon tree had a bumper crop this year! After the shoot, I gave some away but was still left with a bowlful. I decided to make Meyer Lemonade. Meyer lemons are smaller and rounder than regular lemons. They have a smooth thin skin that is deep yellow to orange. But the best part is they are…
