The days, weeks, and months are running together. I can’t believe June is almost here and we are still in lockdown in this part of California. I try not to focus on all the things that I can’t do, but instead on the things I can. While I can’t hike any of the trails or visit the beaches, I can hike our very steep road and enjoy its beautiful vistas. And I’ve enjoyed watching the change of wildflowers with each passing month. What I didn’t enjoy was starting May with a nasty bout of poison oak. I will spare you the gory details and pics, but it did require two weeks of steroids. I couldn’t sleep but my energy level was off the charts!
The best part of May was a visit from my daughter and her boyfriend, a lovely hike on my brother in laws ranch, and that we finally started working on landscaping the front garden and path to the studio! Yippee!
Here is the month of May in pictures…
I can’t wait to share before and after pics of what’s been happening in the front garden. From mud to gravel! Stay tuned…
It’s so odd to see Hwy 1 with no traffic-how lovely! Once again your pictures are a treat! Thanks for sharing a little piece of heaven.
The traffic is definitely starting to come back. And they will be paving Highway 1 this summer so it will be a bit of a challenge to get anywhere. But since the pandemic I’ve learned how to go almost 2 weeks without going to the store so that should come in handy ;). Have a wonderful Sunday!
Sunsets are my favorite, and sunsets into the ocean are Heaven on earth! Every one of these pics is such a treat. That stone bird bath is awesome! Great capture!

Wow stunning photos! The views are really the best in the world in Big Sur. Can’t wait to get down there sometime soon. I love the bird bath! Did you make it yourself? Thank you for sharing your beautiful spot. Kim
Thanks, Kim! I had my stone guy carve the bird bath out of a boulder from a Big Sur construction site. Half of it is buried in the ground. It’s huge!! I will be sharing it and the front yard makeover in a future post…just waiting for the entry gate to be built 🙂
