Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, California is two miles down a mostly one lane road. As you might imagine, during the summer it can be a frightening proposition. It also is one of the windiest spot with sand that buffets your face…nature’s idea of dermabrasion! All this aside, it is the beach made famous in the iconic Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton movie, The Sandpiper. When the crowds are gone, it can actually take your breath away with its sheer beauty.
On a recent early morning excursion, the fog and wind were at bay, the light was magical, and although pictures surely do not do it justice, they are a lovely reminder to me of a pristine morn in one of the most spiritual places on earth…
Beautiful pictures Elizabeth, such a wonderful place and of course, I love that film!
I thought of you Pinder when I was there. π
Beautiful sights!
Thank you! It’s a special spot for sure. π
One of my favorite places/beaches; you captured it’s magic, perfectly. Now, I’m homesick…β¦.in a good way.
Thank you, Deborah. It is such a special and magical place and to be there early before the summer crowds was a gift! π
