While you know me as a home decor blogger here and on Instagram, occasionally a shop or product is just too good to keep to myself. At this stage in my life, it’s all about simplifying. I’ve begun to edit my home to reflect a simpler lifestyle and I thought it was time to do the same with my makeup. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has drawers and cabinets full of makeup they don’t use. Five years ago, I met Fredericke Grillitz of IQ Beauty of Course, and she has forever changed the way I wear and buy makeup.
It was a new friend whose glowy complexion I envied who first told me about Fredericke. Fredericke worked in the fashion industry using her makeup artistry on top models for magazines such as Vogue and Marie Claire. She wanted to share her expertise and beauty tips culled from her years of working in the business. In 2001 she launched her own makeup line, IQ Beauty Of Course.
Fredericke sells her makeup online but if you are in Los Angeles or Santa Barbara, you can actually meet with her and she will show you just how easy it is to enhance your natural beauty with minimal makeup. The best part is, it doesn’t even feel like you are wearing makeup! And it is hypoallergenic which is great for people with sensitive skin.
While her line has everything from eye shadows, pencils, and lipsticks, I’m sharing with you my everyday basics. I’ve thrown away everything else and it feels liberating. The products are not inexpensive but last a long time and are the best I have found at this price point. Better yet, my mom and daughter use IQ Beauty as well. It works for all ages and skin types. My daughter rarely wore makeup because her skin was so sensitive to anything she put on it, but she has never experienced any problems with IQ Beauty!
I start with Luminous which is a moisturizing creme that I use around my eyes. I love the cooling sensation and the way it softens my lines and highlights my cheekbones. This will last you a very long time…A little goes a long way!
Next is my absolute favorite, can’t live without product. It’s the Sheer Activity Base tinted moisturizer. This is my secret weapon. I apply it on my face and neck (it has an SPF 15) and it doesn’t come off on my clothes! It gives me a sun kissed glow while being so light you never know you are wearing makeup. It makes a lovely gift for my mom who gets nervous when she starts running low. If you only buy one product, this is the one!
Next I smudge a little of this golden shadow on my eyelids with my finger tips. I use Eye Glow Six. Fast and easy…
A swipe of LL Mascara Lift & Lock Black and my eyes are finished!
A little of IQ Beauty Creme Blush Face Glow smudged on the apples of my cheeks and I’ve added a healthy glow to my face. I use the Face Glow in Lift .
Last but not least, I love the simplicity of IQ Beauty Kisses Lip Balm. I use Kisses liberally to make my lips feel soft and conditioned. I keep one at home and one in my purse.
This is simple natural beauty that is fresh, modern, and timeless. Enjoy!

Definitely going to check out, thanks for sharing!
It’s the only makeup I use! Happy to share!
Thank you for sharing, Elizabeth! A smart girl should have smart makeup, right? I love the look of ”barely there, but somehow it looks pretty” so I’m intrigued. I have sensitive skin, just like your daughter, and I found coconut oil very helpful as a gentle makeup remover. Love and collect moisturizers so will try the IQ Luminous as soon as my current one is over. Have a great weekend!
I use the Luminous mostly around my eyes and sometimes on my neck. I then use the tinted base moisturizer all over my face. You can’t go wrong with it. It’s so lightband sheer! I don’t go anywhere without it!
Happy Friday! 🙂
