Fall in California is quite a bit different than in other parts of the country. Our days tend to be warm and sunny, with cool crisp evenings. It’s my favorite kind of weather, but definitely not what one thinks of for fall. In our homes, I like to bring in the neutrals…winter whites and lots of cozy textures. Organic natural items such as white pumpkins, plants, and even driftwood lend a bit of autumn flavor to the decor.
In The Little Glass House, which is flooded with sunshine all day long, a neutral fall palette lets the outdoors in and the artwork shine!
At the Big Sur House, there is a lot more wood and an organic rustic feel. The easiest way to change the mood is by swapping to pillows and throw in neutral tones. Of course, little white pumpkins make their way into this home as well and hang around until Thanksgiving!
I realize that many of you love the rust, golden, and orange tones of autumn. However, keep in mind, neutrals are another option if you’re not into an abundance of fall decor. And an added bonus, it makes it easy to transition to a white Christmas! 😉
Perfection!
