Living in Santa Barbara, our autumn changes are subtle. Different plants are blooming and occasionally we get a cool fall like day. But nothing compares to the drama of leaf season in New England…Vermont to be specific. I’m fortunate enough to have my parent’s sublime farmhouse to visit. This is quintessential New England complete with warm cider donuts, the scent of fireplaces burning, and of course the color of those glorious leaves!
My first day was spent antiquing and looking for a few treasures for a favorite client. The perfect start to the day was a stop at the Equinox Valley Nursery for warm cider donuts and hot mulled cider.
After a successful day of treasure hunting, I was more than happy to return to my parent’s warm and cozy home.
Nature is always putting on a show through the large glass doors in the great room.
There are always little tweaks when I visit. Adding this simple black and white photo made such a difference in this space below.
My mom fell in love with a large folk art sheep she bought for $5 at a tag sale. Not sure where to put him, he was left hanging in the garage. We walked around the house with it until I found the perfect spot!
No autumn visit would be complete without a few must see places. The Vermont Country Store has everything imaginable from a cheese shop to penny candy and thousands of other items.
My visit went way too quickly but I have new memories and a few of those pretty leaves to take back with me to California!
Loved this post and love Vermont. I am so happy to have found your beautiful blog via Instagram!!
