Those of you who have followed me for some time, know I like to set a simple table…and usually with items I have on hand. I tend toward a neutral fall and winter decor, but I shocked my husband when I added just a tiny bit of autumnal color to a table for a recent dinner party.
My inspiration were a pair of two tone mini rose plants that I bought at our local farmers market for $6.
I miscalculated the size of the roses because when I placed them on the table, they were a wee bit too tall. I have a pet peeve about peering around and over a centerpiece. I like to be able to see the person I’m sitting across from! I simply snipped a bunch of the roses off of one plant and placed them in three tiny vases…problem solved.
The addition of a handful of tiny white pumpkins and some simple votives equal simple and easy centerpiece. The green linen napkins from Hudson Grace are my faves. I love that they are huge and incredibly soft. Dishes are Williams-Sonoma Everyday Dinnerware. The closest thing they carry now are these. The beautiful handblown glassware is from Simon Pearce. I’ve been collecting Simon Pearce bowls, glasses, lamps, and candlesticks ever since I first visited their charming factory in Quechee, Vermont. It may be November but a balmy evening meant doors were open, conversation flowing, and a whole lot of laughter. An easy casual laid back evening with good friends is my idea of the perfect dinner party!
