Summers in New England can be brutally hot and humid, especially in August. I was lucky to experience some beautiful balmy clear days, a little rain, and even a few fall like days. As a child, August was never my favorite month, even with my birthday at the tail end. It signaled the end of carefree summer days and colder weather just around the corner. I can appreciate August and September now.
The days are growing shorter, but it is still warm and everything remains green. There hasn’t been a frost, so the flowers are still hanging on to the last golden days.
Here are a few snapshots from the East Coast!

Kelsey and McClane- No visit back East would be complete without a visit to the barn to see this handsome fellow!

I love the beach bungalows in our neighborhood…

and dreamy by night
The herb garden did better than expected in it’s galvanized container and a wood top added to our fire pit means we can use it all summer as a table too!
String lights over the pergola light up our outdoor dining table…I only wish I had bought white ones!
The front porch and these rockers from Room and Board are a favorite spot all summer long.
The sofa at the end of the porch is the perfect place for a snooze.
I love it when it is cool enough to leave the front door open.
A day or two of chilly gray and we had the fireplace on watching the US Open. Go USA!
My favorite time of day is early morning when the sun comes streaming through the kitchen window.
She also has a weird obsession with shoes…
Enjoying the summer vibe in the dining room for just a bit longer…
