Last week I shared some ideas for a small beach house bedroom I’m working on with a dream client. This week it is the adjoining room that will be a small lounge…emphasis on lounge!
As in the bedroom, the client wanted white to be the predominate color scheme. With the blue of the ocean outside in the distance, simple organic decor in this small space with a comfort in mind was the goal.
Let’s start with the seating. RH’s Cloud modular sectional will allow for a custom fit as it comes in three sizes…petite, classic, and luxe. We are going to use one corner chair and three armless chairs to gain the most seating space. The client is still trying to decide if she is going to paint the floors white. If that is the case, I would use the sand Belgian linen. If left unpainted, she wants to go with white.
A pouf like this fun Mongolian lamb from West Elm will add texture and take up little space. Floor pillows would be another great option!
I would love to do a round coffee table. While I’m not usually a fan of glass top tables (fingerprint maintenance), the small scale of the room and the fact that this table is so perfect, outweighs any reservations I may have had. Throw a floor pillow on it and you have a place to prop your feet!
The round braided jute rug from Ballard Designs comes in three colors and two sizes. I’m loving it in driftwood…
There is room for one end table and I’m partial to this teak stump stool from Wisteria. White and wood is my favorite combo!
For lighting, my client wanted to use the same flush mount light that is in the adjoining bedroom…this beaded beauty from RH.
A standing task lamp will free up the side table and be great for reading…
A small refrigerator and microwave, a wall mount flat screen TV, some green plants, and some well chosen accessories, and I’m not sure I would ever leave!
